Puppy Visitor Policy
I will schedule 1 hour visits for weekdays between 9:00 am to 2:00pm
and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for you to see your puppy once they are old enough for visitors.
Please keep in mind, I do have a personal life, and a family to take care of, and raising puppies is a full time job, so time away from them for visits, is time I'm not spending tending to them.
If other family events are planned, I will not schedule visits, and will have to see when next available visits will be.
Sorry if this is an inconvenience, but I have many hats I wear, and I do run the live feed to help with that as well as pictures and updates.
I will post the time slots of live feed as to when they will be running.
ONLY PEOPLE IN THE HOUSEHOLD WHERE THE PUPPY WILL RESIDE Do I allow to visit, Please understand and no extra people(siblings, grandparents, friends, neighbors, aunts, uncles) AND DO NOT ASK me about the household pets coming! They will have plenty of time to visit YOUR puppy when you take them to your home. I will not or do not allow any extra risk to my puppies. When you ask me of these things for when you come to see your puppy, it is NOT just your puppy, but the entire litter you potentially put at risk as your puppy will be going back in with them after your visit! I think all the other parents would appreciate this rule being in place for the safety and well being of their puppy as well.
Please be courteous and respectful of visits...I schedule them and pick up times for a reason...I sometimes leave very little time in between to take care of my own things as I do have this inside of my home and a family to take care of as well. If you schedule a visit PLEASE be on time, if you are running late or know you are going to be late please CALL! Also I sometimes have back to back visits and very limited space in the nursery...It is very frustrating to shuffle people that are leaving as others are coming in...So please take that in to consideration and be PROMPT ..
Visitor’s Policy
Visitors are welcome to visit and select their puppy at 6 weeks of age ONLY IF they have placed a deposit to reserve a puppy. Visitors are allowed to visit the puppies with placing a deposit, but not until the puppies are at least 8 weeks of age and have had their first puppy vaccination. Often times there may not be any puppies still available in the litter at 8 weeks so we recommend placing a deposit to reserve a puppy as they tend to go fast.
We require you place a deposit on a puppy before visiting because many families will do what we call “puppy shopping” and go from one place to another handling puppies. Parvovirus is transferred through the contact of fecal matter from an infected dog. It can be carried in on your clothing, shoes, hands, and even vehicle tires. We do not want visitors coming to hold and play with our puppies after visiting other facilities and holding other puppies that could possibly be infected with Parvo.
Parvo is extremely harmful and most often deadly to puppies under 1 year of age rather treated or untreated. Once a puppy/dog has contracted the virus it has a 50/50 chance of survival following treatment (this information was found at http://workingdogs.com/parvofaq.htm. Please follow the hyperlink to learn more about parvovirus and the symptoms and treatment methods.)
We have heard of many breeders who have lost entire litters due to this horrible disease and it’s a risk we are not willing to take. It would also be irresponsible of us as breeders to allow people to come to hold and play with our puppies and possibly infect puppies that have already been sold to the families on our waiting list. Just imagine, you come out at 5 weeks and pick out your puppy, then the XYZ family comes out without placing a deposit, handles the litter mates of your puppy of which end up infected with Parvo….the entire litter then gets Parvo and your puppy dies….it’s bad news all the way around.
We do this to protect our puppies because their little immune systems are so fragile. We do however understand that you want to be a part of your new puppy's life, so we post updated pictures and videos of your new baby every week on our website and Facebook page. There are also pictures and videos of parents and their environment posted. When coming to our home to pick up your puppy, we ask that you do not visit any breeders or pet stores before arriving and please do not bring other pets with you. Again, this is to protect your puppy.
Requiring a deposit prior to allowing visitors keeps foot traffic to a minimum and weeds out puppy shoppers, which are the most likely to be spreading viruses from puppy shopping around at different places. The people buying our puppies will appreciate, that we keep the puppies safe to ensure they won't be bringing home a sick puppy!
Please keep in mind this is also our home, so keeping foot traffic to a minimum coincides with having family time as well.
Thank you for your understanding!
Most breeders REFUSE to allow visits until the puppies are at least 6 weeks and had their first shots.
