I think we have started the EARLY stages of labor! We had a normal temp this morning and two hours later the drop! Now at this stage it can go for 12-24 hrs. and then puppies will start coming...WOW, what a mothers day!

We are still on puppy watch...she is day 60 since her first breeding, and has gone on day 61 and 63 with other litters, so anytime now...She is really getting big and puppies are still very active...no drop in her temp yet so keeping a close eye on that...she has not started nesting in her whelping box yet either...so again, we wait... Praying for a safe and quick delivery... I guess someone is trying to get more comfy! lol She has been very calm the last couple of days...Also today when she went out to potty, she is starting to loose her mucus plug...So I'm not going anywhere...Have to wait for hubby to get home so I can go to the grocery store QUICKLY! He would freak out if she started while I was gone...Good thing for cell phones and it only being a couple minutes down the road...The puppies are so active...really kicking away and rolling her tummy! They love being rubbed, and I think Cloe rather enjoys her belly rubs too...Stay tuned for updates...:) Well, we have entered the last full week of pregnancy with Cloe...She has been much more snappy with the other dogs than she has with her other pregnancies...But hey pregnant females human or any other species can be testy...So knowing her sweet demeanor normally I just give her a look and call her name and she knows, calm it down...Its quite funny actually...Have been feeling her belly and can now feel the puppies very active and can even make out little legs and round little tops of the heads...very sweet...She has been having her temp taken now for the last few days so watching for the temp drop...Her actual due date is Tuesday the 14th, although she went on day 61 last time which would put that being Mother's Day... Have plans for a nice Mother's Day with my adult children coming over along with my mother and her dog as well...Should make for a very eventful Mother's Day for the entire family if she decides that is the day she is going to whelp her puppies....So just praying she goes after that day and has a very quick safe and easy delivery of all her pups...Continue to stay tuned to her blog...I did have several people back out, but have already added a few more...So there may be still some room, depending on how many she has...my guess is 7 this time...We shall see... Poor Cloe...She has been scratching non stop and has dug herself raw in spots...I called the vet and only thing they can recommend is a medicated shampoo...I wanted to give her some relief and it seemed as though her skin was dry...I figured from her skin stretching, shedding, she needed something to help with making her soft and safe for her and the babies... I know it is non toxic for them and wonderful for their coats, skin and health to give them added to their food organic coconut oil...so instead of adding it to her food, I simply rubbed her belly (hence the reason she looks wet) she has already after two treatments stopped itching and belly is looking so much better...oh the joys of being pregnant! I usually shave her belly fur, but did not get to it this time with the remodeling of her room, so that could be why she has been itching more... Her milk is coming in now and I can not only hear the babies,I can also feel them moving around in her belly...So she gets regular belly rubs and the babies are talked to...as you can see from this picture most of her belly fur is gone, and my daily vacuuming has increased! ha! cut back on her momma bowls this last part of her pregnancy...Start taking temps on Sat. Stay tuned! :) Well here we are on day 44 with 19 days left until her due date...We finished the dog room, and pick up the sofa couch on Sat. Then I will decide what to put on the walls and little details... Cloe had been wondering why we were keeping her and the other dogs out, did not want her breathing fumes from the paint...had to keep them in our room for a few days...But when she saw daddy putting up her whelping box she got excited! She jumped right in and was ready to help...It was like she got it, she understood what we had been up to and that it was for her... She has started her moodiness with the other dogs, air biting at them, low growls, and just letting them know to leave her alone! She is the boss and is making sure they know! She is filling out and looks like she is getting the saddlebags on her sides as she is gaining weight...She has been getting her "momma bowls" aka cottage cheese or yogurt, meat, cooked egg, and cheese...She has been off a bit on her regular food...and eating grass when she goes outside... Things seem to be going well and she is resting more and more...She did sleep in her whelping box for daytime naps...but still sleeping in our room for now...Countdown is on for me to get all my last minute things before I am home bound waiting on those precious babies...Start taking her temp in another week... Well things are moving along with Cloe and her pregnancy...I could hear the heartbeats yesterday and she is really having a pretty good go of it this time around...Not too much grumpiness or being too moody...One thing she has been doing this time is panting A LOT more than with her other pregnancies...We have been putting it off, but decided to dive in and remodel the dog room...She will have a brand new room...new paint, new carpet, new decor! :) I must really love my babies, cause they get their room done before mine! lol Stayed tuned, I'll try to keep things updated at least weekly but kinda tied up trying to finish the room...spent 13 hours non stop today... Well we have reached the half way mark and things are going well...Cloe has slacked off on her eating and is napping more and more...She is becoming more clingy to us and would rather the other dogs just leave her alone for the most part...At this stage the puppies are growing fast and puppies are about 2 cm long, their hearts started beating a few days ago, and their eyelids have appeared...their limbs are already well formed, and their heartbeats much faster than an adults...I can start using my stethoscope to hear for the heartbeats... At this stage the ears are beginning to form on the puppies...Cloe has gone off her normal eating pattern...She is spending a little more time away from the other dogs and more time with us...She has been going in her crate to sleep during the day instead of being in the room with the other two dogs...She is doing great and things are moving along... Well Cloe is done with her heat cycle and Ace has come back to his senses! Cloe is and has been very loving and her coat looks great right now...She has never looked better...Will now wait and add pictures as her belly grows over the next 8 weeks...Stay tuned...
